YumReads

Privacy, plainly.

Last updated: October 2026

YumReads sells instant cookbook downloads. This page says what we collect, why, and how to reach us: contact@yumreads.com. The registered entity behind YumReads, and its business address, are on the legal and seller information page.

What we collect

  • Your email address — for your receipt, download verification and order help; and, only if you opt in to marketing emails (see Newsletter below), to send them.
  • Order details — which books you bought and when, so we can verify purchases and help with download problems. If you opt in to marketing emails after buying, we record that choice with your order, along with the date and the wording you agreed to.
  • Press-list details — if you join the press list on our website, your email address, along with the date you joined and the wording you agreed to.

Payments

Checkout runs on Stripe Managed Payments. Stripe collects payment and billing details, and Stripe/Link acts as merchant of record for these transactions. We do not receive your full card details. We receive the payment status, amount, currency, order reference and the email supplied at checkout to fulfil the order and help with purchase problems.

Why we use your data

We use order and contact details to perform the purchase contract, deliver the PDF and answer support requests. We retain payment and accounting records where the law requires it. Marketing emails and Meta measurement are optional and rely on your separate consent. We do not ask for marketing consent at checkout: you can opt in after you buy, by pressing the button on the confirmation page, or by joining the press list on our website. Buying never depends on saying yes, and you may withdraw your consent at any time.

Service providers and transfers

Supabase hosts our private order database and PDF storage. Cloudflare hosts the website and processes requests and security-related data. Stripe processes checkout and payment information; Meta receives measurement data only after marketing-cookie consent. These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States, under applicable transfer safeguards. Contact us for details of the safeguards relevant to your data.

Newsletter

One email per book release, no noise. Marketing emails are always optional, and there are two ways to opt in. After you buy, the confirmation page has a button for it: pressing it is your consent, and we record your choice with your order. Or you can join the press list on our website, which saves your email address. Nothing signs you up automatically, and your download never depends on either.

No release emails go out until an email provider is connected. Before any release emails are sent, we will provide a way to unsubscribe. You can also withdraw marketing consent at any time by writing to contact@yumreads.com.

Analytics and cookies

We count anonymous visits and button presses (for example “checkout opened”) on our own server. This uses no cookies and no identifiers, and we do not store your IP address. Each count records only the event, which page version you saw, the campaign tags in the link you used, a rough browser type and your country.

We use Meta Pixel to measure advertising and report purchases back to the campaigns that brought you to this site. It is loaded only after you choose Accept in the cookie card. Until you choose, and if you choose Reject, no Meta script loads and nothing is sent to Meta.

When it is active, Meta may process browser and device information, IP-derived information, the pages you view and how you interact with them, cookie or online identifiers, and conversion events such as a completed purchase. Meta Platforms, Inc. is a recipient of that data and acts as the provider for this measurement. Where applicable, we rely on your consent as the legal basis. It sets identifiers such as _fbp and _fbc on our domain.

If you accepted these cookies before you bought, our server also reports that purchase to Meta directly (Meta’s Conversions API), so it is counted even when a browser blocks the pixel. That report contains the order value and book, the Meta identifiers above, your IP address and browser type, and your email address and country in hashed (one-way encoded) form. Purchases made without that consent are never reported to Meta.

You can turn this off at any time using Cookie settings in the site footer — switching to Reject stops further Meta events and clears the Meta cookies we set on this domain where your browser allows. See the Cookie Policy for the full breakdown. Stripe checkout may set its own cookies under its own policy.

How long we keep things

We keep order records for as long as needed to provide download access, resolve purchase issues and meet applicable record-keeping duties. Marketing-list details are kept until you withdraw consent or ask us to remove them. You can request deletion at contact@yumreads.com; we may need to retain limited records where the law requires it.

Your rights

For the order and marketing information YumReads handles, the data controller is 4Studios LLC — its registered address is on the legal and seller information page. Stripe/Link handles checkout information under its own privacy notice.

You can ask for access to or correction of your data, deletion, restriction of processing, and portability where applicable. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent for optional marketing or measurement without affecting earlier lawful processing. Write to contact@yumreads.com. You can also complain to your national data protection authority.
